Counseling Services

Dr. Width provides services to address adjustment issues in varied areas, as well as issues of a more long-standing nature. She uses a multi-modal therapeutic framework in accordance with client needs, focusing primarily on using cognitive behavioral therapeutic strategies, and mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques.

Testing and Evaluation

Psycho-educational testing for children and adolescents is of great help in determining the learning style of an individual. Undiagnosed learning disabilities can compromise the academic functioning of a student and lead to poor self esteem and behavioral issues. Dr. Width provides a psycho-educational assessment that outlines the student’s intellectual potential, age and grade level academic functioning, recommended interventions for home and school, and if appropriate, recommendations for support under Section 504 or Special Education. Evaluations, both court ordered, and diagnostic for the purpose of continued treatment, are also available to clients. Multiple assessment tools are employed providing a comprehensive profile that supports treatment efficacy.

Dr. Width has provided child custody evaluations, meeting with each  parent separately and with their children.  The children are seen in multiple settings.  All involved parties are interviewed,  using educational, medical, therapeutic, and familial components. Assessment tools are varied, with recommendations to the Court in the best interest of the children.

Parenting Time Coordination

Parenting Time Coordination assists parents in adhering to the child custody guidelines that have been previously established.  The process is collaborative with a focus on the best interest of the child(ren).

Dr. Width works with children, adolescents, adults and couples. Family sessions are frequently a component in the therapeutic support of children and adolescents.
